#GivingThanks
In honor of Thanksgiving ...
These are some of the things for which I am most grateful:
- My family;
- A loving Heavenly Father;
- A merciful and compassionate Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ;
- The restoration of the church, gospel and priesthood of Jesus Christ on the earth once more;
- The Book of Mormon;
- Modern-day prophets and apostles;
- Covenants that bind us to God;
- The blessing of serving as a mission president with over 190 wonderful young and senior missionaries;
- Personal revelation;
- So many supportive friends; and
- Health.
It was a busy two weeks with transfers taking center stage. We gained 16 new missionaries and lost 18 (12 finishing their missions, 4 receiving their visas and transferring to their permanent assignments elsewhere in the world, 1 going home early for health reasons, and 1 going home temporarily to work through something before returning to the field). It is such a blessing to work with and serve such exceptional young men and women!
Thanksgiving dinner was had at my youngest sister's and her husband's home. We were joined by my sister's son, my daughter and her fiance, and my mom and her husband. What a wonderful meal and time spent together!
Winter is in the air. Christmas lights are making appearances around the valley and Anne has mandated that we listen only to Christmas music for the next month or so.
"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. for the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations." Psalm 100
"Behold, my beloved brethren, remember the words of your God; pray unto him continually by day, and give thanks unto his holy name by night. Let your hearts rejoice." 2 Nephi 9:52
