"I love to see the temple ..."
Fall is in the air. What a crazy and busy two weeks these last two have been. It is 10:35 p.m. as I write this and I know that if I don’t write now, I’ll miss another week before posting again. But because it is late and so much has happened, I will have to resort to just a bullet point record of the past two weeks:
· Attended the temple with one of our Zones (all of the missionaries were able to attend a session at the temple last week.
· Met with Elder Kevin Pearson to renew my temple recommend.
· Worked to find the will of the Lord regarding this cycle’s transfers.
· Held temple recommend interviews for missionaries whose recommends had expired and for missionaries who would be returning home on transfer day.
· Held final interviews for missionaries returning home.
· Put on two different open houses for stake presidents and their wives from the Salt Lake Valley.
· Attended and spoke in the Holladay Young Single Adult (YSA) stake conference adult session and the Salt Lake Olympus stake conference general session.
· Held presidency meetings.
· Took two of our really good missionaries to the airport to travel to their permanent assignments.
· Received 26 new missionaries (from the airport and train station) and provided training for them over 2 ½ days.
· Completed transfers.
· Held our departing missionary temple trip, dinner, and testimony meeting (which is one of the highlights of our calling).
· Conducted new-missionary training for those missionaries that have been out 6 weeks and for those that have been out 12 weeks.
· Attended training with Elder David Frischknecht who is over temporal affairs for the Utah Area.
· Met with Elder and Sister Wilson who work with all of the service mission leaders in the Utah Area.
· Conducted two baptismal interviews.
· Attended the baptism of one of those I interviewed.
· Spent time at the hospital with one of our missionaries who had surgery for appendicitis that had burst prior to surgery and then was diagnosed with E.coli after surgery.
· Read weekly letters from many (more than 60) missionaries and responded to a number of these.
· Held Zoom meetings with 12 different stake presidents and various of their leadership and those missionaries that serve in each of those stakes.
· Met with my Assistants (young missionary leaders) on numerous occasions to work through many various and sundry matters including preparation for our upcoming Missionary Leadership Council and Zone Conference meetings.
Oh, and Anne tested positive for covid this morning. (I tested negative fortunately.)
Like I said, it was a busy two weeks.
