Stake Conferences and Zone Conferences

Anne and I completed our second round of Zone conferences in Evanston, Wyoming on Friday the 16th. At the beginning of each zone conference, we show a slideshow of pictures of outgoing and incoming missionaries for that six-week cycle (transfer cycle) as well as pictures of some of the persons who entered the waters of baptism that transfer cycle as well. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to include that here so I have simply included some of the pictures.

Following the zone conference and interviews of the missionaries in that area, Anne and drove to Rock Springs, Wyoming to do more interviews and attend the Rock Springs' stake conference Saturday night and Sunday. Anne and I spoke in the Saturday night session, and we were able to have dinner with Elder José A. Teixeira and his wife beforehand. Elder Teixeira was assigned to fill in for Elder Kevin Pearson who was called away on another assignment. Elder Teixeira and his wife are lovely! The existing stake president was released and a new stake president was called. It was surprising to hear that the new stake president had just been called as bishop of his ward just 4 weeks earlier. It was a witness of the Lord’s hand in his work.

Last Sunday, Anne and I attended the Canyon Rim stake conference, which was interesting as we knew probably one fourth of the people in attendance because of having lived in that stake when we lived in Salt Lake City before moving to Colorado. It was fun seeing friends we hadn't seen in decades. The night before, we spoke in the Adult Session of the Parleys stake conference. With 68 stakes in our mission, we are starting to be invited to speak in at least one stake conference every weekend.

From my studies this past week ...

There are still those in the world that claim members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the church itself, are not Christian. Whenever I come across this claim, I wish those persons would simply read the Book of Mormon. It is another testimony of Jesus Christ as Savior of the world. As just one example from the Book of Mormon: Alma 38:9 states, "And now, my son, I have told you this that ye may learn wisdom, that  ye may learn of me that there is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. Behold, he is the life and the light of the world. Behold he is the word of truth and righteousness."
